Teen Therapy
Being a teenager today brings a variety of challenges to navigate. Society has changed drastically over the past several decades and so has the way teenagers interact with it. Technology has made it easier than ever to connect with others while also generating cyberbullying and addictive media. The pandemic has produced a generational stressor. Natural disasters like fires and floods have increased the likelihood of being part of a traumatic event.
Today's teenagers have to navigate all of the events above, while exploring and creating their identity. Understanding the implications of actions, their values, building their self-esteem, are all vital experiences.
At this stage it is important that teenagers learn skills to help overcome any mental health barriers they are experiencing so they can continue to progress into heathy fully functioning adults. I have been fortunate enough to make children and teens my speciality for the past decade. I have practiced making safe spaces where they feel comfortable exploring issues, events, and emotions. It is important to build healthy connections to serve as a model and to help facilitate teaching skills to tackle challenges and build healthy coping skills. I have extensive experience in working with families, parent coaching, and coordinating with schools and other community supports.

There are many paradigms of psychotherapy, and it is important to find the model that is the best fit with the client. Each challenge brings a variety of interventions and processes that play out in therapy
